Indo-American School (IAS), established by the Abboy Trust in India and the Indo-American
Foundation in California, USA, was founded by M. Abboy Naidu, an agriculturalist
from Vallam near Cheyyar. He believed that education is the best tool for the advancement
of individuals and society. The trusts have built and donated many buildings to government
schools around Cheyyar, aiming to benefit rural students.
The Indo-American College
was also established in 1998 to provide higher education opportunities.
Located in Cheyyar, approximately 100 km southwest of Chennai, the Indo-American School campus spans
about five acres started at 2005.
The school buildings cover approximately 100,000 sq. ft., featuring 90 classrooms
and a 5,000 sq. ft. auditorium. The institution can accommodate nearly 2,500 students.
The classrooms are well-equipped with modern teaching aids, including computer labs,
science labs, and a library.
